In follow up to several inquiries about hull shapes and lamination schedules in use by Etchells builders, the International Etchells Class Association Governors, in conjunction with the Class One Design Technical Committee, have approved plans and expenses for the scanning of two boats from each of the three Class builders. This will allow for an audit and comparison of boats currently being built from the three moulds worldwide.
In addition, the lamination schedules in use by all builders will be reviewed and onsite inspections will be done. The inspection team will include Class Measurer Bill Abbott, builder representatives, and a World Sailing measurer.
These processes will begin shortly and the results will be delivered to the Governors once the reviews are completed. When those results are received and evaluated, any rectification that may be required will be reviewed, implemented, and announced to the full Class membership.
